Privacy Policy (POPIA)

1. Responsible party

2. Information we collect

• Account: email address, and for drivers: full name, ID number, driver's licence, vehicle registration and roadworthy certificate, banking details for payouts.
• Bookings: pickup and drop-off addresses, load description, load photos, price, timestamps.
• Payments: processed by Paystack; we store transaction references and last-4 card digits only.
• Technical: IP address, device type, approximate location (with your permission), app usage logs.

3. Why we process it

• To create your account, match bookings, and enable payment and payout.
• To verify driver identity, licence and roadworthiness (legal & safety obligation).
• To handle disputes, refunds and support queries.
• To detect fraud, abuse and unlawful use.
• To send you service messages (booking confirmations, receipts, payout notifications). Marketing only with consent.

4. Who we share it with

• Drivers & customers — necessary contact details (name, phone, address) are shared between the two parties to a booking.
• Paystack — payment processing.
• Google Maps — address lookup and routing.
• Supabase / Lovable Cloud — hosting and database (South African / EU regions).
• Law enforcement — where compelled by valid legal process.

We do not sell your personal information.

5. Cross-border transfers

Some of our processors store data outside South Africa (e.g. in the EU/USA). Where they do, they are bound by data protection standards substantially similar to POPIA.

6. How long we keep it

Booking, payment and driver-verification records are kept for a minimum of five (5) years to comply with tax and financial regulations. Account records are kept while your account is active and for 12 months after closure, then deleted or anonymised.

7. Your rights

Under POPIA you may: access the personal information we hold about you; correct or delete it; object to processing; and complain to the Information Regulator (inforegulator.org.za). Send requests to [SUPPORT EMAIL].

8. Security

We use encryption in transit (TLS), encrypted storage at rest, row-level access controls, and audit logs. No system is perfectly secure — please choose a strong password and keep it private.
